2nd edition of International Fleet Review (IFR) is held at Visakhapatnam from February 5 to February 8, 2016. It is about 54 countries. 24 warships from foreign countries, 24 foreign Naval chiefs, 90 foreign delegates will be attending IFR 2016.

The event started with AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu laying a wreath at War Memorial at RK Beach and inauguration and IFR Village at the AU Engineering College grounds on February 04, 2016

On February 5, 2016 Opening Ceremony and  Cultural Programme will be held at the INS Satavahana Stadium, naval base, Shri ESL Narasimhan Governor of Andhra Pradesh be the Chief Guest and Shri Chandrababu Naidu would be the Guest of Honour.

On February 6, 2016 President of India, embarked on INS Sumitra, Presidential Yacht would review the fleet of participating Indian and foreign warships.

On 07 February, a two-day International Maritime Conference would be inaugurated by Shri Manohar Parikkar, Raksha Mantri, on the theme ‘Partnering Together for a Secure Maritime Future’.  On the same evening International City Parade at RK Beach which would include marching contingents and bands from the Armed Forces, Indian Coast Guard, the City Parade, participating foreign navy contingents and bands along with students of NCC, SCC and School Children. Shri Narendra Modi, the Hon’ble Prime Minister would be the Chief Guest for the Op Demo and City Parade.

The activities of IFR-16 will conclude on the evening of 08th February with a Joint International Band Concert at the Naval Officers’ Institute.

09 February onwards, Indian ships will conduct Passage Exercise with visiting ships which is aimed at improving inter-navy understanding, building up of mutual confidence and further bonhomie and camaraderie between the crews of participating ships.

Flypast Precautions. A number of aircraft would be flying over the RK Beach during the rehearsals and during IFR. Birds flying near the display area pose a major threat to the aircraft. In order to ensure smooth conduct of the display and for air safety, it is requested that the viewing public as well as residents of the neighbourhood keep the beach area litter free and avoid bringing food items to the beach or dropping food items and garbage in the open, as these attract birds.

Rehearsal of these events would be conducted as per programme given below. Citizens are advised to make use of opportunities during these rehearsals to witness the IFR activities.
